THE HISTORY 

Our roots trace back to the ambitious vision of the Olympia Improvement Company in 1920, which aimed to transform Hobe Sound into a Greek inspired haven for the arts and film, famously dubbed "Picture City." Despite the setbacks of the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane, our town's spirit and unique heritage have endured.  Some of the original lamp posts from the 1920's still line the road right around the corner from the Olympia Theatre, and the neighborhood still features the Greek road names established back then. Today the Olympia Theatre of Hobe Sound stands as a testament to this legacy and a promise for the future. It aims to reignite Hobe Sound's artistic flame, offering a stage for independent films, local music, stage performances and more. Positioned as the premier destination for the arts in our community, the Olympia Theatre is not just  is not just reviving history: it's setting the stage for a new are of cultural richness and diversity in Hobe Sound.
