Composing music for an LA film Project in the summer of 2015 was the catalyst for the birth of Big Pine. For Kevin Mcloughlin & George Schoeppner, writing together for the first time in many years was enough to make them realize that it was time to form a band.  There was only one singer/songwriter considered for the project, local favorite Smokey Gage. It didn’t take long for the 3 to realize they had formed a solid songwriting team and so the Big Pine sound was born; Grounded acoustic guitar surrounded by soaring electric guitars, Zeke Merkel's solid drums dancing the line between Rock & Blues, coupled with Randy Finn's "in the pocket" lyrical bass lines, all supporting Smokey’s dynamically soulful voice.  After honing their sound by performing regularly to enthusiastic audiences, Big Pine has created their own musical voice that is well received and gaining new fans everywhere they go.

The Big Pine Band Live

Press

The wait for the album was well worth it.  That the music is great, was already clear from the beginning.  Ten great, crystal clear produced and well performed tracks that should delight lovers of classic Southern Rock of the great early years.  I am sure that this album will evoke a thoroughly positive and enthusiastic echo in the Southern Rock scene.
